Removing Household Glue on Your Carpet

Household glue can have a lot of uses around the home. It can be useful in sticking broken pieces of toys together or it can come in handy for school or work projects. Having household glue around can certainly be very helpful for a variety of ways.

But while it has many very useful purposes around the home, accidents can also sometimes occur and you could end up facing a glue spill on your beautiful carpet. Household glue can be a very tough spill to deal with because it can make the carpet fibers stick together thus ruining your carpet’s appearance. If you are faced with this situation, you must do the proper steps if you want to get your carpet back to normal.

This is not something that you want to happen to your carpet yet sometimes it can occur without notice. If you have this problem at home, here is a guide that you might find useful in removing the household glue on your carpet easily.

• Carefully remove as much of the household glue by using a spoon or a dull knife and scraping it off. Don’t rub the spilled area or wipe it in any way as this will only cause the glue to spread to other areas of the carpet.
• After removing the excess glue, create a cleaning solution which will be helpful in removing the stain that is left behind on your carpet. For this you will need to mix a teaspoon of non-bleach laundry detergent and ¾ liters of water. Stir the mixture thoroughly and then place some of it inside a spray bottle.
• Spray the affected area of the carpet several times until you have applied enough of the solution to soak the glue stain. Allow it to set for a couple of minutes and then use a clean white cloth to blot the stained area. Blotting will help break down the glue stain and remove it from the carpet fibers. Continue doing this step until all of the stain is removed.
• For the last step, you must rinse the carpet with some clean water to remove the cleaning solution residue which could get left behind. This is an important step in order to prevent any build-up from occurring over time which could be harmful to your carpet. Dry the area completely using clean rags and then you’re done.
