Getting Rid of Grass Stains on Your Carpet

Having a nice and beautiful front lawn can really make a homeowner proud. Growing green grass and stunning shrubs and flowers will definitely cause your guests, neighbors, and passers-by to take a second and admire your home.

But while seeing the lush green grass in your front law can be a source of pride, it can be a source of frustration if you end up seeing it on your carpet. What I am talking about is getting grass stains on your beautiful carpet at home. This problem occurs commonly and can really ruin your carpet’s appearance. That is why knowing how to get rid of this little problem is something that you should learn.

Here is an easy-to-follow guide in removing the grass stains on your carpet.

• Begin by using your vacuum cleaner with its suction tool to remove as much of the loose grass on your carpet. This will help isolate the problem to the grass stain already there and avoid causing some more on your carpet. If you don’t have a carpet at home, you may also opt to utilize a wet/dry vac for this step.
• Get a clean white towel and dip one portion of it in a bowl of cold water. Extract the excess water from it and put the damp towel on top of the grass stain on your carpet and start blotting slowly. This step will cause some of the green grass stain to be absorbed on the towel and transfer it onto the towel from your carpet fibers.
• Check the towel to see the amount of the stain being removed from the carpet. This process does not give you instant results which is why being patient and persistent must be on your to-do list. Just continue blotting the stain using the towel until there is no more stain transferring to it.
• Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a piece of cotton and then use it to again blot the grass stain. The alcohol helps in breaking down the stain even more so that you will be able to completely get rid of it from your carpet. Just blot the stain using the cotton ball repeatedly until all of the stain is gone.
• Get a cup of clean water and then rinse the area where the grass stain was. This is aimed at getting out any excess residue that may be harmful to your carpet over time. Dry the carpet using your wet/dry vac and then you can use it regularly once again.
